Deck the Halls

Holy moly ladies (and gents...if any of you read this!)...can you believe it is already December 1st?  The holidays (and my due date for that matter) are right around the corner.  In my world, holiday decorating officially commences the day after Thanksgiving.  I love coming home to a festive house, and with only a limited window of time to properly enjoy it, I feel like I need to squeeze in every minute!
Thus far, I have dedicated most of my decorating efforts to the indoor spaces, namely our living room (featuring the mantle), kitchen, and dining room.  In years past, I have gone with a simple white and silver color scheme (I'm actually Jewish, while Josh is Christian, so the white and silver felt safest to me...you know, could be Hanukkah or Christmas), but this year I wanted to add a little bit of pizzazz to our decor.  Because of the aforementioned mixed heritages working here, I shied away from anything too traditional (or maybe just because I tend to do that in general!) and instead decided to add pops of green and blue...after all, we do already have plenty of those colors working in our house!
Wanna see what I have come up with so far?  Well, here it goes:

And the kitchen (pardon the crappy night time pics):

As you can tell, I seem to have a fondness for ornaments and trees this year!  There's a lot of DIY goodness around there too, but I haven't quite gotten around to writing the master how-to post (most of it is pretty simple though).  Check back later this week and I should have all the details on the ribbon card holders, felt tree, and bottlebrush winter tree scenes.

  2. I love this color scheme - very wintery, but with an understated sort of elegance.
