Two Adults, No Baby...Where To?

One thing I am passionate about is travel. Unfortunately, the time and financial constraints that come along with starting and raising a family have made Josh and I sacrifice travel for other pursuits. Well, my 30th birthday is coming up in March, and I had decided that I wanted my birthday celebration to involve a trip.

Now, at the time of this decision, I was 9+ months pregnant and celebrating my 29th birthday...ODU's basketball team (of which we are avid supporters) was down in New Orleans for the NCAA tournament (a pretty big deal). I told Josh at the time, that if I wasn't pregnant, we would be there too...and that next year, for my 30th birthday, on which I would not be pregnant (at least not intentionally!), I wanted to go to New Orleans.

So, here we are...time to officially start planning this trip. And like most other things in my life that I overthink and overanalyze, I am now questioning my New Orleans choice. I mean...there's Chicago, or Boston, or Key West, or Charleston...the options are endless! So, I need your help. Give me your suggestions. Here are my criteria:

1. I want to go somewhere I have never been. This doesn't eliminate too much, but does eliminate New York City, Atlanta, Las Vegas, Austin, Orlando, Miami/Ft. Lauderdale, anywhere in Virginia, Washington DC/Baltimore, and a few other relatively insignificant locales.

2. I want to go to a city, somewhere we can explore. I divide vacations into exploration and relaxation, and I want this want to lean more towards the former than the latter...we'll save the latter for another time!

3. This will be our first trip sans baboo, so we don't plan to be gone more than 3-4 days, so that eliminates California and other places that might be too big/too far away for this trip.

I think that's it. Please leave me a suggestion!

  3. Key West is great, especialy if you just have a few days...it's kind-of like Vegas where a week is too long anyway....
