Shredded

I did it.  I finally attempted Level 3 of Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred DVD.  Shredded might not be the word for how I feel right now...more like immobile, completely sore, discovering muscles I didn't know I had.  And I wasn't completely out of shape either.

Quite the contrary... I have been doing this series consisently since I retruned to school in August.   I was drawn to the program because Jillian promises results for people who "don't have hours to waste in the gym"....um, hello....that's me!   So, since August, I have been treking to the gym 2 days after work (and guiltily putting baby boy into the arms of another babysitter for 45 minutes) and then waking up before baby boy 2 mornings a week to spend some quality time with Jillian.  I did her Level 1 for about a month, and then upped the ante and jumped up to the Level 2 in September.  Since then, I have been scared to even attempt the Level 3...I mean, 1 and 2 were already kicking my lovely arse!
But this week, I made the bold move...twice actually.  Day 1 was pretty much a disaster.  I had to stop several times to a. figure out what she was doing, b. attempt to do it myself, c. take a little breater, and d. pretend I was "confused" so I could justify another little break.  Despite my half-ass effort, I was still ridiculously sore when I woke up the next morning to give it another go.  Day 2 was actually a HUGE improvement.  I kept up (for the most part) and even did some of the more advanced moves (in case you aren't familiar with the DVD, there are two girls to follow: one they term the "beginnner," although she is beyond buff, and the other is more advanced).  It was later that day into today that I could barely move.
But here's the good news.  I remember starting Level 1 and Level 2 and feeling the exact same way on those days.  I also realize that just a few weeks later I had mastered those moves which I guess means I was in a helluva lot better shape just a mere few weeks later!  On top of that, my body is more toned than it has ever, ever, ever been (and this is post baby too!!!).  People constantly tell me I look better now than I did before I had my baby.  I don't say it to brag (ok maybe just a little...it has taken a crapload of hard work to get here), but more as a blaring endorsement of this program.  If you are short on time (or even if you're not) and want to get totally "shredded," spend the 10 bucks for this DVD.  Your body may not be happy with you at first, but I promise you it will be in a few months!

  1. I just started doing this video (mixing it in with other workouts--just cardio or a workout with yoga) and I feel like it is complementing my workouts really well. I am still at Level 1 and can not even imagine looking at Level 2 (and Level 3...let's not even talk about right now haha). But, so far, so good. I'm glad to see you're further along and that it IS possible! :) Congrats on your "shredded" self!!!

  3. Good for you! JM is one tough cookie and is not afraid to say it. I have a few of her DVDs and love the kickboxing set. It's a bruiser but worth it. Keep up the shredding work!

  5. Wow I do the JM shred too and I know what you mean about level 3... I am still doing it, I have noticed for me it is helping me be a stronger runner and go longer and faster... but I still need to work harder to loose all the baby fat from my two kids!

It's great to hear of so many people hanging out with Jillian. I don't usually tout things, but this video seriously does what it says
