Handmade Ornament

I had this idea in my head for quite awhile, but when I saw the fun blog hop going on over at Newly Woodwards I knew it was time to take the 10 minutes and get this little project done.  You see, Kim has been hosting a different DIY theme each week and this week's is DIY gifts, so it was the perfect motivation for me to finally create the DIY gift that had been created in my head.
Admittedly, I'm not usually a homemade gift kind of gal, or guess I should more appropriately say that my friends/family members are not homemade gift type of people.  Call them snooty (it's ok...I won't tell), but they always request things..purses, or clothes, or electronics, things I simply cannot create.  But once you have a kiddo, there's all of a sudden a reason people want your homemade things...as long as it has something to do with said kiddo.
I made this ornament with Colton's grandparents in mind, but I'm thinking you could create one for just about anyone on your list...maybe with pet photos for a pet lover, wedding photos for a newlywed couple, etc.
To make one, all you need is a wooden cube (available at any craft store...mine cost $1), some mod podge, a printer, and some cute pictures. I also splurged on some wooden C's (3 for $1) to attach to the top of each ornament (C for Colton in case you're confused)
To begin, I painted the top and bottom of my cube as well as the C I was going to glue to the top.  I, then, formatted my pictures in Microsoft Word to make them about 2x2, the size of the sides of my cube.  Once the paint was dry, I printed and cut out my pictures and used some mod podge to attach one picture to each side of the cube.  With that done, Josh used a handy screw to attach the C to the top, thus creating a handy spot to hang the ornament as well.
How easy is that?
Wanna see it?

For about 10 minutes of work and $1.50 out of my pocket, I think it's something Colton's grandparents will really enjoy getting.  I plan to make one (or maybe just keep this one) for our tree, and maybe even do one each year with some significant photos from that year to create a nice little collection...we'll see.
What do you all think?  Be sure to head over to Kim's and check out some more of the DIY fun!
