Tone It Down

When we moved into our house a little over a year ago, I had the grand idea to go bold in our dining room.  I don't know what got into me, but I wanted an accent wall and chose a chocolate brown color for it.  A month later, I spotted a canvas in the CB2 catalog and convinced my lovely husband that it would make a terrific birthday present/addition to our evolving dining room.  The result was, well, BOLD...like a lot of color.  And while I didn't necessarily mind it on a daily basis, when it came time to entertain (as we do frequently around here), the dining room usually took center stage and this bold background was just a bit much.

Last week that bold wall finally got the best of me and I decided I had to do something about it.  Luckily, we still had plenty of paint left over from painting the other three walls of the dining room.  So, I whipped out my painting clothes, a roller, and took about an hour and a half to transform our wall into this:

Better, right?  But of course, just painting the wall is not enough to satisfy me.  Now I have a whole dining room makeover stewing in my brain.  Admittedly, this project will not be top priority for a bit, but I am totally craving transforming our current buffet or a new hand-me-down into a beautiful robin's egg blue creation, sort of like this one:
I'm even digging the yellow/coral accents...hmmm
To go along with our new buffet and toned down, beachy color scheme, I also found this treasure of a rug at Urban Outfitters, for get this....$74!!!!!  Yep, totally have to scoop that up pronto:
And finally, I have had my eye on this West Elm beauty for years and think it would be the perfect replacement for our ugly fan in there:
The best part is I found a fantastic DIY version of the same chandelier if I'm really going to get serious about this makeover!  So, actually this makeover could be fairly cost-effective...we might just have to get on it.  What do you all think?  You like the new plan?
